With 47 percent of all new HIV infections among adults worldwide occurring in key populations (KPs), reaching members of these communities and improving their access to and uptake of services across the HIV cascade is essential to achieving epidemic control. Online and mobile platforms offer ever-expanding potential to reach previously unreached individuals facing high risks of HIV, engage them in ways that may be more convenient and desirable than in-person interventions, and connect them to services. This session will offer a vision for safely and effectively using online platforms to accelerate progress toward epidemic control among KPs. Presenters will discuss: (1) using online surveys, social media mapping, and marketing data to generate population size estimates, conduct surveillance, and inform program planning; (2) implementing online outreach and support strategies that link KPs to offline services and improve HIV outcomes; and (3) ensuring programming in an online environment is safe and private.
